From the Desk of Tony

In Northern Michigan, there’s a chance that we may get a taste of spring this week. Temperatures above freezing may be even 50, and lows barely below freezing. That’s one sign, clocks going forward is another, but from a business standpoint, the way we can tell is that people start calling asking if we’ve got machines available or can get them in both quickly and
cheaply.

Before you ask, the answer is almost certainly no. We’ve made some significant improvements to our lead times, but manufacturing specialized equipment still takes time. We’re trying to shorten the process, and that will continue to be a focus, but as a make-to-order company, there will always be a lag between receipt of the deposit and shipping of the equipment.

During our conversations with you during your process of supplier selection, we’re honest about that. Starting a business isn’t easy, even adding a new menu item like frozen custard or ice cream takes planning. If we can be a part of that process, please let us know. One thing that will hopefully shorten lead times for the rest of the year is that we won’t have weather-related shipping delays – at least not for snow.

Happy Spring.
